Ruddington Community Choir has announced that its ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ will be returning for 2022 – the choir’s tenth anniversary year. After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Ruddington will once again be welcoming singers and choirs from both near and far on Saturday 8th October.*
*Please read the important update below.
Spread across multiple venues in our village, ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ will be a day of mass singing and specialist workshops, culminating in an evening concert in St Peter’s Church. The previous ‘Big Sings’ in 2016 and 2018 proved not only entertaining for the participants but also helped by giving local traders a boost. Once again, the ‘Big Sing’ team will be encouraging participants to shop locally while they are visiting Ruddington.
Cath Rodkoff from the organising committee says: “Make a date! We’re all delighted that after a very difficult two years, we’re able to start planning for our next ‘Ruddington Big Sing’. During the lockdowns and subsequent restrictions, live music and the social aspect of group singing were really missed so it’s super exciting that we’re able to make new plans with confidence.”
Meantime, if you want to get in on the action, Ruddington Community Choir meets most Tuesdays at Ruddington Methodist Church, from 8.00 to 9.30pm. You can check on specific dates >>HERE<<. More information can also be found at https://brachamusic.co.uk/ruddington where prospective new members can sign up for a free taster session.
You can find news and photos from the choir’s recent tenth birthday celebrations >>HERE<< whilst a slideshow of images from the last ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ is below.
*UPDATE 23rd SEPTEMBER:
Organisers have decided to postpone this event due to disappointing ticket sales for the planned October date.
They are now rescheduling The Big Sing’s return for 2023 – in its usual slot in May. After confirming venue availability, they should be able to announce a new date soon. RUDDINGTON.info will keep you posted!
Meantime Ruddington Community Choir apologises to those who’ve already bought tickets for any disappointment caused.
